digital art

Kiera Schlansky is a physician and self-taught artist who focuses on the healing power of the meditative and transformational process of creativity. Her work captures the primal impetus of human expression and celebrates its many forms. Her portfolio has included digital art since its inception as media - she fondly remembers her first interaction with Microsoft Paint on Windows 3.1 in the early 90s, and then having to (im)patiently wait 30 years for the technology that would become her favorite art-making medium to emerge. In digital space, she is finally unfettered by problems such as limited supplies, incompatible substrates, dry time, or having to clean up, which was always a drag. These images represent the incomparable freedom that is possible when the creative process is unencumbered by physical reality.

about the art

Keira’s work captures the primal impetus of human expression and celebrates its many forms. In parallel with her large scale abstract paintings and sculptures made from scavenged materials, her portfolio has included digital art since its inception - she fondly remembers her first interaction with Microsoft Paint on Windows 3.1 in the early 90s, and then having to (im)patiently wait 30 years for the technology that would become her favorite art-making medium to emerge. In digital space, she is finally unfettered by problems such as limited supplies, incompatible substrates, dry time, or having to clean up, which was always a drag. These animated images represent the incomparable freedom that is possible when the creative process is unencumbered by physical reality.
