Kala Sangha Studio is a gallery that is focused on the appreciation and exhibition of artwork that is generated spontaneously, intuitively, and sometimes accidentally, resulting in the purest expression of creativity.
In Sanskrit, Kala translates loosely to performing art, but can also mean force or life energy that evolves into the world. It is described as both singular and plural, and refers to all different forms of artistic expression with equal regard, as well as the universal creative impulse.
Sangha is a Sanskrit and Pāli word that means community, assembly, or association. In the Buddhist tradition, the Sangha is considered to be a source of refuge, allowing the practitioner a safe space in which to pursue personal development alongside supportive and similarly intentioned company. Membership in the Sangha is not offered or withheld by another, but demonstrated within the individual by right practice and assumption of inherent worthiness.
Engaging in dedicated creative practice without desire or fear takes significant mental and spiritual effort, and can be a powerful form of active meditation. The images or items produced are unintentional byproducts of engagement in creative practice, and serve as invitations to other people to do the same.
